Perfect balance of scary and fun
Slots & Daggers
Meh incremental game. You can tell the dev put so much hard work into it's UI and effects but not much into the game
Antichamber
The special part about this puzzle is not the 4D design or the gun mechanics. It is how the whole world is a puzzle yet the developer made sure players don't get stuck by providing multiple paths to each major progression point. Unlike other linear puzzles where you have to figure out the current puzzle to move on
UFO 50
So far a single game is 8.5 will change rating after playing more
Opus Magnum
Very interesting puzzle concept and design. Impressed by this work. The only thing worth optimizing for is time and it is kinda solved if you don't have money or space limits. will be more in the future
Mewgenics
Event though tactical rouge-like/lite aspect is good. I feel like keeping track of all the various cat stats, skills and perks to be too overwhelming for me
Brothers A Tale of Two Sons
Good story though it felt disjointed at times. Some puzzles leave you disappointed when you realize they are not actually as complex as you thought
What Remains of Edith Finch
More than a walking simulator
Peglin
Playing this games I felt that the developers kept asking themselves "what if we can do this" not "should we do this" - What if we made a pachinko roguelike. Good start respect - What if we add map choices progress. Awsome - What if we made the choice using the pachinko. Stop!!! And other examples... The main issue is that pachinko involves too unpredictable. It is difficult for the player to make a deliberate choice. This pushes "input randomness" too much, to the point it feels like "output randomness". In a roguelike, the main skill is to make the right choices and build. But here, even if you made the right build. You stay bound by "luck". My 0/0 damage orb, hit 240+ peg in one throw and delt 2k damage (with bombs) I hope my 180/360 damage orb will hit close 240 pegs that will be awesome. Throws orb, hits 2 pegs and fall I can tell that many orbs are unbalanced and damage inflated, just to combat this. But that end up amplifying it. Had some fun but that's it. It didn't compel me to play more
Potion Craft
Potion Craft feels like potion crafting was added later on It seems like the developers wanted to make a cosy shop simulator with relaxing progression. They also added huggling to make sure you can buy stuff from merchants, even if you don't have enough money. You can tell the intention from items description, especially cosmetic items. Then they accidentally stumbled upon one on the most unique brewing mechanics. The exploration felt fun, rewarding and logical (directional affinities). Unfortunately, the crafting felt disjointed from the rest of the game. Customer some times having additional requirements might be helping but not much. Shop upgrades being locked behind RNG encounter was also annoying, especially when you are progressing too fast. The studio, sadly, doesn't seem like it is interested in fixing these issue. Quite the opposite, they are embracing the "relaxing" grind. In the end making recipes in more and more optimal ways. Filling the recipe book and end game alchemy mchine crafting gave a sense of accomplishment. I really want to give it a higher rating but the score was fading as the fun of the first few hours
Suzerain
Reason for rating: The game is simulating the president experience very well. Too well I might add. I respect that they choose to make a game for a specific type of audience and cater it for them to the extreme. Even though I couldn't have fun playing this. My personal experience: This game stressed me like never before. Every single moment you are making a decision. It takes the skills of reading and analysis to the extreme. Literally no down time. Even "dinner with family" and "evening stroll" you are making big decision. Never have I wished for a fishing mini game like now. As the decision have layers of impacts, they only get heavier and heavier. I seriously suffered from blackouts multiple times during meetings. I wanted to continue but I couldn't handle it. Maybe I'll be able to when I finally get to live in my goose farm not worrying about IRL issues
ULTRAKILL
Didn't rate it higher because I suck at FPS
Lysfanga
The game has a good core idea and feels mechanically polished, but the combination of genres didn’t click with me. I like both puzzles and hack-and-slash games, yet execution-based puzzles aren’t something I enjoy. They oversold on self-interaction but in the end it's only about routing. Well made overall, just not my cup of tea
Punch Club
It intially gave me false sense of urgency. Especially with decay mechanics. But then you realize there is no risk which made the grinds pointless and repetitive
The Hex
For a detective mystery game, platforming was very forgiving, I enjoys how cooking was handled, simple but you cannot spam punches. You have to understand different opponents, dodge, block or wait. Leveling upgrades are very limited though. Potions and other consumables were useless but I can see how skills can synergize for high damage. Turn-based tactics are broken, felt more like puzzle then a challenge. I preferred double guns over snipers and shotgun but each had its usages, Top D or Two D. The Pokemon boss battle was easy as much as the battle royal. Shifting perspectives and looking back at it all, the most intense part was the action-time-management. The Hept is truly an uncontested banger by GameFuna 🔥
War for the Overworld
Good RTS feel. I'd have liked it more if it wasn't for the bad controls holding it down
This War of Mine
Depressing. In-game hints are misleading, much like real life
Balatro
Didn't rate it higher to spite Abbad
GRIS
Stunning art and story. But too slow in game play
Die in the Dungeon
The die board and die interaction are vey unique but was held back by early access bugs
